Looking back at the past year, what do you consider Sage’s most significant achievements, and how do you plan to build on those successes in your new role?
I am incredibly proud of the team culture we have built from the ground up.
We have a team of professionals that have a 100% client first outlook and enjoy being part of the team. It’s very rewarding and humbling to be part of a start-up business and have the buy in of the team to move toward a common goal.
Beyond culture, we’ve achieved wonderful milestones, such as securing key clients, navigating complex claims with outcomes, and expanding our portfolio into niche industries such as Construction, Food & beverage, Hospitality, Transport & Logistics and Manufacturing. These successes demonstrate the team’s dedication to providing tailored solutions and putting the client first approach.
Moving forward, my goal is to build on this momentum by continuing to nurture our collaborative environment, identifying new opportunities for growth, and empowering the team to excel. Together, we will focus on refining our processes, leveraging technology to improve client experiences, and expanding our reach while staying true to the core values that brought us here.
As you step into this director position, what is your vision for Sage as we enter our second year and how do you plan to leverage your experience to enhance the company’s service offerings and address client needs in the coming year?
My vision for Sage’s second year is to continue driving growth by expanding our service offerings and creating specialised solutions tailored to the unique needs of our clients. We plan to introduce complementary services that add value while deepening our expertise in niche markets. This strategic focus will allow us to better serve clients in industries where we can make the greatest impact.
While I’m eager to take a step back and focus on mentoring the team and working on the business as a whole, I am equally passionate about staying involved in the day-to-day broking. Remaining "on the tools" ensures that I stay connected to the client experience and maintain the high standards that Sage is known for. I’ve seen too many businesses lose sight of their core offering when leadership steps too far away from the front line, and I am committed to avoiding that.
By blending strategic leadership with hands-on involvement, I aim to strengthen Sage’s reputation for exceptional service, empower the team to grow, and ensure we continue meeting and exceeding client expectations as we scale.
Can you share your approach to implementing broking best practices within the team, and how you envision fostering a culture of excellence as the company grows?
Its simple, What would I want as a client? The answer always comes down to three key pillars: clear communication, exceptional service, and a fair deal.
Given your successful track record of working closely with clients, what strategies will you employ to strengthen client relationships and ensure exceptional service delivery as the company evolves?
The foundation of exceptional service is listening to our client. It starts with understanding their business—what they do, how they operate, and the challenges they face. You can’t protect a client effectively if you don’t understand the foundations and intricacies of their operations. Our team are out in front of our client, attending risk surveys and walking the floor of our clients' businesses so they can.
Maintaining strong relationships with our markets—insurers and carriers—is equally critical. These partnerships allow us to negotiate competitive terms, secure tailored solutions, and address challenges proactively. By fostering mutual trust and collaboration with our underwriter partners, we can ensure we’re consistently delivering the best possible outcomes for our clients.
From there, my strategy involves proactive engagement. This means maintaining regular communication to ensure we’re not just reacting to client needs but anticipating them. Routine coverage reviews, insights into emerging risks, and tailored recommendations demonstrate our commitment to protecting their business.
Building trust is another essential element. Clients need to feel confident that we’re their advocate, working tirelessly to protect their interests. This involves transparency—whether explaining policy options or managing claims—and delivering on promises with consistency.
Lastly, as the company evolves, leveraging technology will play a key role. Tools that streamline back-end processing, simplify the renewal processes and minimise paperwork as well as offer intuitive client portals to enhance the client experience while maintaining the personal touch that sets us apart
